Holy Week is upon us. Sometimes this week seems more like “Holy Cow” week as we run from service to service, event to event, and family time to family time. This is a busy time in the life of the church. It is easy to put aside attending worship services because of other obligations and things that seem to be more important. But I encourage you not to do that. For this one week, I urge you to try even harder to step away from the busy-ness of life to spend extra time with Jesus.
Just before Christ died on the cross, he said the words, “It is finished” (John 19:30 NIV). With those three words, Christ defeated sin. He gave everything that He had for you. He gave His life so that you could wake each morning knowing that you are a loved child of God. You have been given the greatest gift of all. .. the gift of salvation with the promise of eternal life.
But there is a catch … You must be willing to accept the gift.
Easter weekend, there will be lots of eggs hidden that are filled with goodies for the children to find. There will be Easter baskets flowing over with surprises of chocolate, candy, toys, and even money. The excitement of the children will barely be able to be contained. Ask anyone of them what is required of them to receive the eggs or baskets and their response will be things like “find the eggs” or “nothing – it’s just given to me.” They know there are goodies waiting for the taking … all they have to do is accept them.
As heartwarming as it is for us to see the children finding eggs and opening baskets at Easter, I want you to imagine how much more heartwarming it must be for God to see His children discovering the love He has for them and accepting the gift of salvation that Christ has to offer.
Holy Week is busy and demanding of our time. But giving a week of our life to our Savior is a small price to pay in relation to the life He gave for us at Calvary!
I’m looking forward to worshipping with you!
In Christ’s Love,
Pastor Kim
