To the Believers in Jesus Christ in Flora, Indiana,
Almost 49 years ago, while in college at Texas Christian University, I had a job working on a bridge-building crew. That particular bridge was part of the I-20 connection between Dallas and Ft. Worth Texas. That experience taught me many lessons that became useful in my career as a minister. Lesson number one: Bridges connect people.
The Old Testament Hebrew word for priest was the word used for “bridge-builder”. The priest in OT times was the connector (bridge) between the people and God. As a pastor for over 50 years, I have viewed the “Church” as the bridge between the people and God. The Church is the instrument of Christ to grow the Kingdom of God on earth!
Personally, I pray to be your “Bridge Pastor” during this time of reflection and direction.
Our time together may seem brief. Yet if we keep our focus on Jesus and His Kingdom we can achieve much. Here are some of the goals we can obtain.
• We will grow spiritually by the preaching and teaching of God’s Word.
• We shall have open discussion about moving forward in God’s Kingdom.
• We will focus on God’s call for the next pastor for Flora First Christian Church.
The words of Paul in Philippians 3:13-14 will serve us well. He says, “Forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on towards the goal for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus.”
God loves you and me, PTL!
