Honest moment: I don’t want to write this article any more than most of you want to read it. I love you all. Knowing that following God is breaking your hearts (and mine) is absolutely one of the most difficult things I have ever had to do.
You all are amazing. You love without reservation. You give your all to the Lord. You profess Christ as Lord and Savior and then live that out. Don’t get me wrong…you aren’t perfect…but you’re pretty near close.
The past three years – from the time we met till now – have been some of the greatest years of mine and Jeremy’s lives. We have watched healing take place, spirituality grow, and laughter abound. We have experienced pain together and we have suffered alongside one another. But at the end of each day, we have come out on top being overwhelmed by Christ’s blessings.
Christ’s blessings will continue to overwhelm as time continues.
And without the shadow of a doubt, I can say to you today, that for Flora First Christian Church, the best is yet to come!
Yes, things are changing. Yes, none of us expected our time together to end so soon or sudden. BUT, just as God brought us together, He is preparing this congregation for the next phase in its life and He’s preparing the next pastor to take Flora FCC to the next level. We may not understand or see what God is doing now, but in time his perfect plan will be revealed. In one of his most intimate moments with the disciples, Jesus gives us an example to help us understand that.
In the upper room, while Jesus was washing the disciples’ feet, Peter confronted Jesus. Peter did not agree with Jesus humbling himself to wash the men’s feet. But Jesus told him, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand” (John 13:7). After some convincing, Peter agreed to let Jesus wash his feet.
The same principle applies now.
We do not realize what the Lord is doing. But later we will understand.
Until then, we have to trust and follow him. Until then, let the Holy Spirit wash over you.
I cannot wait to see what the future holds for Flora FCC. There are big things ahead and I will celebrate every victory for Christ you achieve and every mountain that you climb right along with you. The best is yet to come!
Please know that you are forever in my heart and prayers. You are family now and while we may be physically apart, we will always be connected. As it has been since we’ve met, my phone will always be on and I will only be a text or call away.
Thank you for who you are and for all you’ve done. I love you all!
In Christ’s love,
Pastor Kim
