The flowers are blooming, and the temperature is rising! The only things that seem to be growing more is our relationships with Christ and our love for one another. Praise Jesus for all of these!

There are a lot of exciting times ahead of us as we move through spring and into summer!

We will be the host site for this year’s Vacation Bible School, July 8-12. The First Step Preschool Graduation is May.24. The Mothers’ Day Banquet is May 18. Graduate Sunday is May 20. July 4th we will be hosting the Gospel Fest. And this list doesn’t include our Donut Sundays, Men’s Breakfast, or Christian Women’s Fellowship times. We
have lots of opportunities to show our faith in Christ. There’s one more occasion I wanted to tell you about though. I will be on vacation May 8-13 as Jeremy and I attend Will’s college graduation. (Proud Mama moment!) With that said, that means that you will be getting a treat beyond treats on Mother’s Day. Pastor Wayne Kent will be leading the worship service on May 13. Pastor Wayne is the Lead Pastor of First Christian Church, Decatur, IL. He is also the Executive Director of Disciple Heritage Fellowship. He and his wife, Leslie, will be worshipping with you and bringing God’s message through word and song. (They are also partially responsible for bringing you and metogether …be sure to give them a big thank you!)

As we move forward together, I ask that you continue to be in prayer for our congregation. We should always be asking for the Lord’s guidance and discernment. Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV) tell us to “trust in the Lord.with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding; in all our ways submit to Him, and He will make our paths straight.” We do not know the plans our Lord has for us, but He does. It’s our job to listen intently, pray without ceasing, and prepare ourselves for the blessings, calls, and ministries that Iieahead. We must be mindful to never become complacent, but always be looking for the next opportunity to serve our Savior.

The Elders and I have been praying a prayer together since our first meeting in January. I ask now that you join us in this prayer. May we lift this prayer as one voice, earnestly and honestly, asking God what plans He has for us. In doing so, there is no telling how we may be surprised by Him.

“Gracious Lord, we give you thanks for the direction you have given our church over the decades. We now come before you again asking for guidance and discernment. You have told us in your word to wait for the Lord and to lean not on our understanding but to trust in the Lord. We trust and wait on you now. Please mercifully receive the prayers of your people who call upon you and grant that we may know and understand what things we ought to do. Give us the power of your grace so that we may hear your divine instructions. Remove any barriers that keep us from drawing near to you. Open our hearts and clear our vision so that we may follow your path and accomplish your will. In Christ’s holy name we pray. Amen.”

In Christ’s Love,
Pastor Kim
